Article is dedicated to comparative word usage in the Russian literature. Word "soul" obtains descriptive filling and becomes almost the basic spokesman of the artistic searches of Russian prosaists and poets. Range is very diverse: from the means of the "freezing soul" (understood negative as the analog of death) to the "glows of soul" (synonym of creation and life).
